Requires a high level of finger dexterity and careful work habits. Operator will perform a variety of operations: Remove burrs and sharp edges using air grinder; Polish webs and back angle, etc.; Clean up flat surfaces using belt sanders, files, and scrapers; Use care to prevent damage; Set stamping machine with metal impression stamp called for by process, or hand stand using sketch for correct position of characters; Keep work area clean and orderly. Operator will layout and finish aircraft deburring and polishing tasks. Select proper wheels/stones to polish irregular webs, contours and radius per print. Break edges, from radius or chamfers on teeth, slots, holes, bores or counterbores per print. Measure lengths, widths, holes, bores, and counterbores with micrometers, verniers, and other measuring tools or gages. Candidate must have legible handwriting. Must be able to determine marking requirements such as part numbers, mounting distance and backlash from sketch or customer's print. Must be able to operate laser etch machine, eletrolytic etch, vibro etch, rubber stamp or metal impression stamp; Must be capable of operating electric etcher and laser etcher to mark parts where necessary. Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds and use hoist for parts weighing more than 35 pounds. Candidate must be able to read blueprints, understand and communicate in English, both verbally and in written form.
